Crawling under the disco over the weekend, I found a lot of crud under the tranny, misc. hoses, etc. Does anyone have a preferred method of cleaning this area? good cleaners? I thought that if I clean the underside, I could pin point the origin of oil leak(s). thanks in advance for any advice.

spray on engine gunk cleaner - organic cleaners work well, too (citric [orange] acid based). And a few roles of paper towels... Be careful about degreasers that may degrade rubber and/or plastic wires and hoses. You're right about degreasing to pinpoint leaks - that's the only way. I've degreased mine before, and a few months later it looks the same. It's happy being messy.
