Freaking Cat makes a rumble from time to time but mainly when the weather is cool. I took it to the dealer today and they stated could not find the rattle but believed it probably is what I am hearing. They also stated the O2 sensors were right where they should be.

The tech told me he could really believe it was the rattle I heard but without verification could not certify it for replacement. I have less than 300 miles left on the CAT warranty.

What else can I do?? Do I just chalk this one up or their other ways I can show them. Of course when I go to the dealer it makes absolutely no noise.

Thanks,

Will

I am not sure how far from the dealer you are, but when my cats were going, they made the most noise after just barely warming up. If i stopped the truck within the first two miles or so it was unmistakeable. Fortunately for me, my local dealer is less than 500 yds from my house, which made getting there when the noise was at its worst (or best) very easy. Experiment with that, and if it is worth your time, drive near to the dealer and give the cats plenty of time to cool (they are by far the hottest thing on you truck) then show up with those two little noise makers.

Worth a shot. Or you could go find some leaded gas, that will kill them in no time flat. (I am joking, please don't do that)

Are you sure its your cats? My 95 was rattleing from the connection after the cats where they come into the y pipe. I had that connection cut out and welded without a connection. There was a little connection peice out of sight between the cats and the mufler. Mine rattled really bad during idle!! Get under it with a rubber mallet and hit The exhaust components at various spots to find exactly what you rattle is coming from!!

When I push on the right cat the sound goes away. Only happens early in the morning.
