Is any one else burning oil? I checked my oil today and smoke came out of the dip stick!!
Does this happen?? I have never seen it happen on my Jetta or A4 so I am kinda worried!!!

When you say "burning oil", do you mean you have to added more to the crankcase or is it just smoking out the dip stick hole? Does this happen all the time?

I am not sure, i was checking the oil and i was about a quart low, but black smoke came out when i pulled the dip stick out. I Guess does smoke come out of the dip stick hole and/or does your LR burn oil?

Well it's not impossible for some smoke or vapor to come out of the dipstick tube when your engine is hot and you check your oil. However, if you're a quart low, you're using some oil. Have you kept track of how many miles it's taken to go through the quart? Depending on my driving, my truck will burn a quart about every 3000 miles, or sometimes it won't burn it much at all. A quart every 3000 miles isn't really "burning oil," but the ideal engine wouldn't use oil at all. However, it wouldn't be a Land Rover if it didn't leave a trail of oil behind it LOL.

Burning oil? Is that what you get if you don't get the factory oil leak option?

Sincerely,

Jon you are so right i nick named mine "drip", i think they all leak oil like a sive. so if your concerned about a little puff of smoke comming out of the dip stick, wait awhile. ya know soon you'll never get lost cause you can back track by your trail of oil, diff fluid, trany oil, transfer case oil,ect and the list goes on. but it looks great so i'll keep filing it up! good luck!
