Anybody have a copy of the installation instructions? I seem to have misplaced these, and John at Rovertym is out of his office until for the next week.

If so, could you fax it to me at 203-399-0090?

Thanks a million,

Rob Liflander

Rob,

How soon do you need it ? I think I still have the slider installation instructions and can fax it to you this evening. Let me know if you need ASAP.

here's an excellent install on a d2, the d1 should be no different. This has pictures and step by step instructions, and it's much better than what john gives you.

I wish I had this information when I installed the RTE sliders on my Disco I. It is definitely MUCH better than what John provides. However I did a few things different :

1. I did not have to remove the mudflaps on the Disco I.

2. I did not have to cut out any threaded plastic bolt on the Disco I.

3. I used NAPA premium undercoating on the sliders before I installed it. An option if you wish.

4. I placed the sliders on a pair of jack stands and moved it into position. I aligned it a bit before I lifted it into position with a floor jack positioned in the middle. Even with the jack holding the sliders, I was able to use a rubber mallet for slight adjustment.

5. The top holes in the slider which are held by the rivnuts align perfectly with existing holes on the Disco I.

6. I drilled ALL the holes for the rivnuts in one shot. I think this might take care of any hole alignment problems when drilling in 2 phases as mentioned in the writeup.

7. I had trouble drilling thru the sill in the back of the slider as I could not open the back door wide enough to drill straight. I had to then ream the holes from the other side.

8. Slider alignment on the Disco I was perfect.

Apart from these, I think the same instruction will work on the Disco I. It is more or less what I did except for the few things mentioned above. The instructions that John sent me is scanned in the above site. It is note useful at all for someone who is doing such stuff for the first time. Moreover, I was paranoid as I have never taken the drill to the disco previously. However, the installation is pretty straight forward once you start on it.

Hope this helps.

Good luck,
Jay R.

PS: Rob, I mailed you some pictures that John sent me. It might be helpful.
