hello, i am about to install 6 hella 3000's on my 1995 disco. i'll be putting 4 on the roof rack and 2 on my arb bar. i was going to have my rover mechanic install the lights for me, however i am now thinking that i would like to do it myself. is this a hard tast to tackle? i don't have much experience doing such things so any advice or instruction would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. T

Yes, you can do it. If you have not done it before, get someone to walk you through it so you don't mess things up - then you do it for yourself. Use wires of proper thickness, good quality clamps, and check/recheck the diagrams before you try to run it. Really piece of cake once you understand what you're doing!

You have to decide, and also check the law, on which lights should run with what. Where I live, roof rack lights usually run totally independent on everything else, cos you want to be able to have lights while wading (i.e. switched off all submerged lights). Up front lights run with sidelights or low beam for short range lights, and with high beam for long range lights. You use the wire from for instance low beam as input to a relay which runs low beam extra lights.

Do it yourself. Simple wiring diagrams should come with lights - then it's easy to route wires, hook up to battery, relays, dash switch, etc. Go the extra mile and WATERPROOF all connections. Also make sure you have a good, solid ground and fuses in the system to protect against wire fire. That way you won't go crazy trying to track down shorts, and you won't go up in flames.
