Tried to install a Yakima rack system this weekend. It is supposed to fit 2000 DIIs. I finally got it on after a lot of cussing and swearing. All I have are two crossbars.

Now, the problem is that the rain gutter mounts are touching the vehicle in a few spots. i have placed small strips of rubber so it doesn't scratch the paint but I am concerned with the pressure against the vehicle.

Anybody else have these issues?

I put yakima crossbars on my 2000 LR Disco II. They fit just fine on the existing runners. Took me about 20 minutes to install.

Try the Yakima Doublecross. Instead of attaching to the rain gutters, they attach to the factory roof rack. I had great luck with them on my 2000 Disco.

got the same issues, but i think the dents in the quarter panels are more noticable.
