Not really a question just venting. Disco leaking radiator fluid turns out it is coming out the cap that has corroded or cracked somehow.
What are they thinking putting a cheap plastic cap on there?
On the flip side if you are leaking coolant you got to be pretty happy to find out it's just a cheap plastic cap.

No man.
That little plastic radiator plug is cool. It is not cheap, it is expensive and it works good.
Sometimes shit just breaks.

You can get a brass replacement from Rover Accessories for about $20.00 for peace of mind. Cracking is fairly common, mostly when trying to remove. Just be glad you don't have a DII that has those same plastic plugs in the diffs!

Buy three of the plastic units from your favorite LR parts vendor (don't forget the little o-ring underneath it). Install one, and put the other two in your glovebox.
I try not to reuse the plastic ones if at all possible.

I'd really like to get one of these brass radiator caps, but under "Rover Accessories," my web search turned up over 200 possible sites.
Can anyone give me the correct web address for this or at least narrow it down?
Thanks,
Norm

Yeah, that little booger fouled my day once. After doing some cooling system work, I was screwing the plug back on and wrung the cap right off the thing. Fortunately, the inside of the plug had some vertical ribs that allowed me to wedge a flathead screwdriver in it and twist the plug out. But it and a new o-ring was like, $3.00 at the dealer, so I figured it wasn't a great loss. Probably not a bad idea to replace it anyway. You would just think something a little more robust would serve the job. Amazing that a little plastic plug could disable my truck...
