I was wondering...is this really useful, what does it do? Would it effect anything at all?

I believe it is a conversion mount so that you can run eye mounts on both ends of the shock. You will have alot more choices with eye-eye shocks rather than the stock eye-through bolt design. I would get it, or make it.
