Dear Sir or Madam
I work at the British High Commission in Ottawa, Canada and am currently doing some research for a British citizen...
This man has explained he has worked with Sir Ranulph Fiennes on the North > Pole expedition in 1997, and was also part of a Land Rover team looking into the feasibility of driving/swimming amphibious vehicles across Bering straits from Ireland to Newfoundland, but due the BMW situation there were budget restraints, and the tests were not completed.
Now....This man is looking for some kind of sponsorship from Land Rover to drive to the North pole as part of a fund raising expedition If you or anybody you know have any information who could help with my research it would be greatly appreciated
Yours sincerely
Lindsay

Lindsay--are you sure that the project failed due to lack of funding from BMW or bad geography? The Bering straits are between Alaska and Siberia (far northwest corner of North America), while Newfoundland is located in the far northeast. I wold be surprised if this man could find the North Pole...Good luck

I am from Buffalo, it is almost as cold as the Bering strait.

Ron - now that Alyssa is events coordinator, perhaps this should be the next club event - more water than the Pine Barrens! Could make a "junkyard wars" type event - lets see, if we could scrounge up about a hundred empty oil drums, 500 gallons of dielectric grease, silicone all the doors shut we might make it a few yards into the Atlantic......Goddamn hard way to go about getting a pint of Guinness though.
