I have a 95 Disco. Is the anntenna supposed to automatically retract when you turn the radio off? Mine does not. Can these be replaced with ones that do?
TIA!

And also make sure the cruise control button is turned off. This is the button next to your driving lights and below the heater/AC controls. My antenna works only when the main cruise control button is on.

Oppps......meant to say make sure it is turned ON!!!!!! My bad. But most likely it is not a power antenna, since it is already up. But mine only works when it wants to or when I talk nice to it.

I have a 95 disco...No power antenna.
If I install a power antenna...anyone have a part number?
Also, does the stock radio have that switched lead off the back for a power antenna?
Thanx

stock radio should, but it is easy to pull out with the 'pins' that came with the truck or ones at any stereo store will have them. as for a part # i would check with www.roverconnection.com for that. personally i would stick with the manual antenna. nothing to go wrong. you can buy the thin whip type. they won't break when wheeling with your truck either. my power antenna does not go down all the way and i am just going to swap it with a non-power sometime soon.

I'm with Garrett on this topic-chances are that a power antenna could stop working. If that happens, you're in the same situation you sought to avoid: you have a manual antenna. Any recommendations on which whip antenna or is it just as easy as going to Radioshack and buying the one they recommend...DougC

I know www.roverconnection.com should be able to hook you up. The one that I saw was under $20. You have to take the plastic lining under fender well off and access the antenna that way. Pretty easy, but the little screw things that fasten the plastic fender lining will need to get replaced most likely. I would guess that a Radio Shack version would work too, but since the ones at Rover Connection and Bristish Atlantic are cheap enough and you will know they will fit I would go with them. Good luck.

I have a flexible antenna that I bought to replace mine but never got around to it. It fits the Disco 95 and has all necessary hardware. Never even opened. (Manual) I will sell it for 15.00.
