I am sure that this sounds simplistic compared to suspension lifts, etc; but how do you remove the factory luggage bars? They are in the way of my roof rack. I saw some pins on the bars; if I remove those, I assume that I can remove the bar, but what about the mounts?

To remove them completely you have to remove the headliner inside the vehicle and there is one nut under each mount. You will have some large holes in the roof though.
If you are talking about the cross bars then they just snap in. There should be a release underneath each side.
