I have a 96' Disco with 70k miles. I've been hearing a clunk type noise coming from the left front end or steering ??? when I turn my steering wheel ALL THE WAY to the right. This dosen't happen all the time but quite frequently. I especially hear it if I'm turning into a driveway, etc. that has a dip or bump of some type and I'm easing into it. Any suggestions or advice please. Thanks..

Hey Andre,

Check the Panhard rod bolts, torque them. The bushings are probably going, and should be replaced if so, but torquing the bolts may buy you some "no Clunk" drive time. This is very common...

Also do the same for the front radius arms.

Thanks for the advice, I will check them both. You know one thing I forgot to mention... these symptoms didn't start until I went over one of those "traffic calming" bumps too fast one day. They've been putting those up all over the place around here! I thought I might have nocked something loose... Thanks again!

That is probably correct. I have one nut on my driver's side radius arm that always works itself loose when I go offroad, not loose enough to be dangerous, but enough to cause that annoying clunk. One of these days I'll replace it.... :-)

I had a similar clunk on my 94 that turned out to be loose bolts through the steering box mounting! Nice thing about nylock nuts- they won't just fall off!
