Mine has 127,000 miles on it.

Runs very well. Perfect compression on all 8...does not burn any oil. The engine is tip top.

I have replaced some parts that have just worn out over the years. PS Pump, alternator, starter all were replaced between 110,000 and 120,000. All parts except for the PS pump were available from local shops at reasonable prices. The PS Pump came from British Pacific...it was a good price but not cheap ;-) I have also replaced the intake manifold gasket. Oh, and the fan clutch, but that was just preventative. I am a firm believer in going the extra mile to take care of all parts of the cooling system on these beasts. I replace all the under hood rubber once a year too. Those hoses can look great on the outside and still crap out on you. Esp the heater hoses.

Of course, I have done a lot of other work, but its all just been basic maintenance. (oil, breaks, etc)

Advice?

If you don't already have a LR factory shop manual get one ASAP. It is the bible. Its a good manual and well worth the price. If you don't do the work yourself don't let anyone who does not have the shop manual touch your Disco. Make them show it to you ;-)

Do the work yourself if you can. These things are really easy to wrench on.

Of course, change the oil often, and check all the fluids on a regular basis.

Another thing:

When we got our Disco it had bad cats on it. I have a NRP stainless Y pipe on the way so I can get it smogged next month. Been running 'cat less' for two years ;-) The NRP Y pipe is the only way to go. I think its also the cheapest solution too.

Also replaced springs/shocks/suspension bushings. Springs were sagging.
