I just bought a 2k disco2 and tore my rear bumper cover off last night, I noticed that the tank is totally exposed. I have to get a rear bumper now but should I also get a gas tank plate?

instead of the factory bumper, why dont u try a Kaymar. It s a bit heavier but more sturdy and u can also take off the load from the back door by putting your spare tire on the bumper swing instead. Also the plate protection under the gas tank is highly recommended if u do some serious offroading

The reason is Kaymar don't make a Disco2 rear bumper.

safari gard(www.safarigard.com) makes a rear bumper for $1250 and the skidplate for $475, if you buy it during April they will throw on a 2" receiver for free.

If you're adventurous, getting a bumper (front or rear) fabricated isn't as expensive as some believe. With bumpers costing from $600~$1000, you can get something made up one-off for that or less from an experienced shop.

A good shop can also help cater to what you want for your truck versus someone elses off-the-shelf solution. Do some local homework. You'll probably be without the truck for a few days while they do measurements, etc.

Remember that most of the bumpers and accessories you see for sale started as someone looking for a solution to their problem. Just because someone doesn't make it yet, doesn't mean it can't be done. be the first on your block. You'll get bragging rights to boot. ;-)

Just more fuel for the fire.
