help!! The heater fan on my 98 NAS Disco doesn't work!! (at least not
the way it used to) Here is what I have done so far. It was
intermittent for a little while, then finally quit altogether. When I
did turn on the switch, the electric fans up front on the rad would
start. The a/c switch does nothing and does not light up, when I push
the recirculating switch the fans go on as well.
1: When it quit I was about 8 hours and a few weeks from parts, (I
was working in the bush in N. Alberta) so I wired a temporary switch
to the heater fan from the power side of the heater fan
fuse..eliminating the factory switch..and I had a heater fan. (Thank
christ as it was January and I was about 150 kms from the North West
Territories and day time temperatures were about -20 deg. C.)
2: On advice from my dealer I ordered a resistor and installed same.
Unfortunately the factory switch still did not work, back to the
homemade job.
3: When I could finally get to my dealer they replaced a relay before
the switch assembly.. which did not help. I had to take the vehicle
home which is 8 hours away, so that was the end of their
troubleshooting.
4: I contacted another dealer, they were convinced that the problem
was the switch itself, and after obtaining my credit card no., they
sent me a new switch assembly. Guess what?? The heater fan still
doesn't work.
As I am a few hours away from a LR dealer, and they don't seem to be
able to fix my problem over the phone, I am appealing to the folks in
this group, I've been lurking here for a while and you seem like a
smart bunch of fellers!! Any ideas?? Thanks in advance
