Recently I have noticed that my emergency brake light will come on at random while driving around town. After a while, it will flicker and then turn off. It seems to happen most often when going up or down hills. It became a nusance this weekend at the Uwharrie Safari, where is stayed lit during most of the hard trails.
Is this an indication that I need to change my brake pads? I plan to do a full inspection of the vehicle this evening, including the brakes. Could there be air in the brake lines from when I changed my rear brake lines? I bled them after the job.
The emergency brake is fully disengaged.
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Diesel
P.S. The Uwharrie Safari was great, albeit a little dusty.

Add brake fluid. Low fluid will make the light come on if the truck tilts enough that the fluid isn't touching the level sensor. I don't know if that's the indicator for pad wear, though. Based on my experience, the wear sensors don't work, but it's not a bad idea to pull a wheel and check it out. But it sounds like your problem is low fluid.
