Bill B,

Sorry to hear about your tranny. Why are the rangers looking for specific rovers? Do they have a problem with people driving through mud and stuff. Also, do you have map coordinates of the trails you drove? I have been trying to find some worth while trail in VA. Harrisonburg isn't too far from Roanoke. Thanks for the info.

Diesel

P.S. By the way, if anyone else knows of decent trails in VA, I am all ears.

Thanks - tranny is still limping along - have some very mild off-road planned for this weekend, so I'll see if it expires completely or not.

Regarding GWNF - Rangers feel that alot of trail damage is due to Land Rovers (they also have specifically mentioned Land Cruisers, but I don't think they know the diff) mainly because of internet photo posts. Many people/trucks - LR, Cheeps, Cruisers, ATV's etc use the trails and probably a certain percentage from each group also abuse them intentionally or unintentionally. Anyway, with that being said - the forest service has gotten a hold of internet photos of Land Rovers in obviously restricted areas, so the blame falls to all of us by default. The rangers are checking all Rovers in the hopes of finding the ones in the photos.

Regarding my earlier mud comment - they're not worried about a bit of mud splashed halfway up your doors, but are looking for mud-covered trucks because the only way you can get that muddy would be to drive in the wildlife watering holes off the trail (their take on it anyway).

I'm not preaching on this by any means, but just want to pass it along for everyone's benefit.

I don't have GPS coordinates, but can give you directions off-list - (webviii@qis.net). Once I get my trans sorted out - we could go out sometime.

I would like to go as well Bill if you don't mind another person tagging along. I'm a novice with a stock disco though but, I have been to Peters Mill a couple of times and looking for other places to go. Email is eric@grnrvr.com
