Hello All,
I have noticed my rear window seals on the DISCO's exterior are starting to crack and split. Is this a common problem with Discos?
Is this something that any local auto glass place should be able to repair? I like to avoid going into the dealer at all costs.
Thanks in advance!

I filled in voids with silicone and touched-up with black paint. As long as no water gets in (it's still a window "seal"), I don't see a problem. Looks fine, too. I forgot what the glass shop quoted me for a complete re-seal on all rear windows, but I do remember that it was a lot more than a tube of silicone from the local hardware store.

You know they sell black silicone.

yeah, but hardware store only had clear, and I was feeling lazy...(always have black paint somewhere on the workbench...)

If I need something black I just wipe my hands on it.

I have a 98 and it goes in tomorrow for replacement of these very seals under warranty (got 46K on it). If you are still under warranty ask. My dealership rocks as far as customer service though. I've read others horror stories here but my service manager didn't give it a second thought.

I also got the rear window seals replaced under warrantee on my '98 Disco. (...and mine really weren't that badly cracked.) Be persistent with the dealership if they act reluctant.
