1997 Disco V8i

Just tried to use my jack and although there appears to be oil in it, it doesn't work. The pressure release screw is tightened.

I wonder if there are some seals or pistons that need replacing? Help. Just had a quote of £70 plus TAX for a new one.

I'm in the UK.

Just go buy one from an autoparts store or something. Doesn't necessarily have to be Land Rover genuine, but a regular 3-ton bottle jack is sufficient.
