No way man. I will go out to the island I am just not camping there, I like being higher off the ground than that. Remember that thing was under water two years ago.

I will definately go out there to drive through the sticks although I am sure Terry, Mike, and Quinten will beat me as usual and maybe Tom too as he can now turn left too instead of just right. And Steve should beat me as well in his 80in. Man I should have kept my mount shut on that one with Tom and not pointed out the misallignment he was the only one Noah and I had a chance against.

Oh well, the fun is trying right.

Ron

PS start doing rain dances now . . MUD

Everything I've heard about the MAR sounds like a good time, but my question is this: My wife and I would like to attend, but we have a 1.5 year old daughter. Is this the wrong place for us to be? We could do some light off-roading, but would like to see all the LR vehicles. Is there any type of family atmosphere there at all? We would be traveling from the Pittsburgh area. Thanks, Keith

Definately a family atmoshpere. No problems with the little one. Trails are marked for difficulty. Lots of rover people to hang out with.

Cheers
Ron

I agree with Ron, only about a 1/5th of the people do any hard trails. There are plenty of different groups there. Most people bring the whole family and the trails can be run by trucks ranging from stock to mildly modified. I would say half the people just go for the camping and never even hit the trails.

Can someone fill me in about the wheeling at the Mid Atlantic event? Is it alot of mud, technical trails, rockcrawling? I've obviously never made it to the past events and would like to attend, but I'm really not into slopping through the mud anymore. Thanx...

Scott

I'm going again also - as is Trevor (at least last I spoke with him)

Lots and lots of mud - brought home about 300 lbs of Virginia last year (some is still in the truck!)

If Ron gets his rain wish - it will be even worse!

Leaving Friday AM with a few ROVERS people

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Bill Bettridge (Billb) on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 04:56 am: Edit

Scott - also, if you want something a bit more technical and less muddy - come to the ROVERS trials in November

Hi guys,

Me and the wifey are hoping to attend, we are a little concerned about if our stock disco can participate in any trails. I am going to stick a new set of tires on, the ones I have are not in good shape. I will also add some diff guards, but im not in a position to add a steel bumber, winch, and rockslider just now. Hopefully there are a few trails we can still do.

Anyway, I hope we can meet all of you down there, and im sure its going to be a blast. Also does anyone know if there will be some vendors and techs there to advise on proposed upgrades?

Thanks
Richard Dekkard

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By gp (Garrett) on Sunday, September 30, 2001 - 05:01 pm: Edit

from what i have been told there will be plenty of trails for all. from stock to modified. my truck is pretty stock with the exception of removing the airdam and trimming the bumpers, tires, diff. guards and some OME stuff. will be my first time as well. but i am sure you will have a good time regardless of what your truck is set up for.

see ya there!

Been sunny for a few days, but thunderstorms every once in a while. I'm about 20 miles from Buckingham in school, and I'll be there in a mostly stock white 94 disco. I can't wait!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Richard Dekkard on Monday, October 01, 2001 - 02:42 pm: Edit

I started getting ready for the weekend by removing my rear bumper endcaps because I notice in so many pictures people are missing one. I thought I would save mother nature the trouble and take them off now in a less violent manner. Someone should have warned me that you have to have hands the size of a six year old to get up in there with a wrench. Air dam and front endcaps are next. Disco will look a little funny methinks...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By cartner on Monday, October 01, 2001 - 05:52 pm: Edit

I took my end caps and air dam off the front already it looks more agro and its got way better clearance. I like it, I left them off and plan to keep it that way. If I can fix that damn alternator, I'll be set!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By gp (Garrett) on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 02:26 am: Edit

cartner~ what's up with that alt? have you checked the belt routing? do this first before anything. check the message above titled belt routing.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By gp (Garrett) on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 04:57 am: Edit

also......i am leaving from state college, pa on friday morning. i am meeting evan with a IIA (depending on him getting it fixed in time) in harrisburg around 9:30 am. anyone else interested in caravaning down with us just let me know. i think we were considering swinging near the balitimore area to hook up with Tom.

see ya'll there.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By cartner on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 05:53 am: Edit

well, I think its the diode on the alt, because of RR posting earlier..it doesn't affect the headlight brightness or anything else, just seems to stall a little and bog down at speed, did it at 30, and in between all the way up to 65. I've never had it happen before, so I"m not sure if it could be a fuel metering issue either...weird. It starts like usual, and goes, and when she's all warmed up then this "thing" happens, but only for a little. Its rather disconcerting considering my Disco is my only truck/car for going anywhere and I"m in school in the sticks...pretty vexed about it.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Cartner on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 04:55 pm: Edit

well, never mind...checked the fault codes...throttle potentiometer...no biggie..just had to clean the electrical connections, will have to re-seal the connections throughout apparently...some mud got in there and disrupted the current or something and made the diagnostics think it was broken..well, that would explain the wierd driving...SEE YOU ALL AT MAR's!!!! I'm stoked!

Take a look at the RN boards. Stuart Moore was prepping the land for the event, driving a tractor with a brush hog when a tree or branch struck him in the head.
He was med-evac'd is in intensive care and was able to answer a few yes/no questions Monday night. Major skull fracture.
Please give him and his fiancee a thought or three. You can send a card to:

WOw, it really sucks that this sort of thing happens, I hope he's OK. On another note, does anyone know if MAR usually has a parts swap or anything like that? Just a little curiuos about whether I would have to pay shipping on some things I'd like to get soon if you know what I mean..

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Ron on Wednesday, October 03, 2001 - 09:31 am: Edit

There are parts for sale but not a swap per se. And it is mainly series stuff.

If you call RN they will bring parts (we are getting two bolts which have been back ordered from LR since the dawn of time).
