Thanks Ho,
I tried to e-mail you a RSVP, but it was sent back... Maybe I typed it in wrong. Anyway I'll be there with a couple other discos in tow.

I thought that it was a "closed run" You better ask John Lee for permission and a rule sheet.

why look to others to make the rules? free country, no rules here. you shoulda held your ground and you should be at truckhaven tomorrow.

Although I do not claim to speak for the entire group going to Truckhaven tomorrow through Sunday, I will say that we started a group emailing offline after hundreds of messages floated through the dweb on multiple threads. We all figured that everyone who was interested had ample time to chime in on the dweb threads, and we decided to tidy things up a bit and make some solid plans. There are two issues that made this a necessity: 1) this will be a big target shooting weekend, involving handguns and rifles. We laid a bunch of "ground rules" about the shooting to ensure a safe and enjoyable time for all (i.e. no children, no pets, everyone is aware of the plan, etc.). Also, 2) we are having a gourmet menu tomorrow night, and we needed to know exactly how many people would be there so the chefs can get the proper amount of food, and we can all pitch in for the costs. If we didn't know exactly how many, then someone always gets stuck putting in $250 while everyone else puts in $20. Ask me how I know....
Ever had a party that got out of hand and next thing you know you're broke and someone got shot? It's not a good thing.
Don't worry, I'm quite sure that a Roverfest at Truckhaven will go down again real soon. Of course, Truckhaven is an open area, so no one can prevent anyone from wheeling there. We just didn't want people to assume that we would feed them, and we don't want people wandering idly around not knowing that people are target shooting over the next hill. When it comes to firearms, you can NEVER be too carefull.
Think also about Moab around Christmas....

Hey Kyle,
Thanks for your support, but you missed the e-mails that were going between the people that were originaly going. I still have em all saved and ready if needed to show how stupid things and people were getting. I decided it would be more fun to go somewhere else. I was totally looking foward to the Land Rover event but it turned into a shooting and coking event with someone in particular getting carried away with rules and plans and talking shit about a club that he belongs too. Mike J.

man, this shit really bothers me... what a waste of time.

I agree, Ho.
As a followup to the original question, there were several relatively stock Disco Is and Disco IIs. But these, and my slightly modified DI, had scraped air dams and bumpers.
If you can deal with scratches and character-building dings, then it was perfect.

If you think Kyle is supporting you, you're barking up the the wrong tree. Go back and re-read Kyle's message to you. Kyle's already seen your emails so you don't have to bother forwarding them to him. Hence his post to you.

Yeah, whatever.

"...but it turned into a shooting and coking event..."
Mike, unfortunately for your intentions, it was ALWAYS a cooking and shooting event with the 4wheeling as the tack on. The title "Iron Chef Challenge" might have been a hint.
Having took part in the original conversations, I agree that things got heated, but the mud was thrown in both directions. You might be pissed, but you can't take the high road here.
As for "rules" and "invitations", they may suck is you're just along for the ride, but they sure make it easier for the guys organizing things.
As it was, it was a good sized event that allowed everyone to stay together. Any larger and we would have had to split up things on the trail and around camp.

I'm over it! I've been over it, But John, if you want to talk some more shit and show your charactor, have at it. I'll see ya soon at one of these events. I had a great time this weekend, I'm glad you guys did too. Mike J.

Can anyone back up Blue's claim?
By Roverine on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 - 12:29 am: Edit |
Hold on here! ... Wait a minute, y'all must remember *I* am confused (a little dyslexic and goofy AT TIMES ...) - Remember, this is "Lucy Of The Desert" speaking ... I was refering to the driving ("Puddles" - Jeff's beloved old Series) and Blue's balancing act with wheels in the air.
"Yeah, Baby!!"
Kim
Still can't wipe the grin off my face ... Truckhaven was a blast!
