I hit the dirt yesterday for a quickie, and I want to get out for a half-day next Sunday. Maybe Saguaro Lake Coves, Sycamore Creek, suggestions? Anyone interested?

sounds good. just post back here when you know. p.s. what's your mileage? is it the 52,500 check engine light, or maybe the 80-odd thousand mile light, or is it the "going bad" O2 sensor light?

Hell, it is the 67563 miles, something is broken, code 48, but not the stepper motor, cuz I just changed it this weekend, and coventry motors tried to reset my base idle and probably screwed it up, which with my luck, fried my cats and 02 sensors, so only God knows what the hell is wrong and he wont tell me light!!!
That acutually was a fun run-on sentence to write. Allowed me vent a little frustration.
As for this weekend, Jeff Sittler is unable to attend, but I can!
Where do you want to go? when? I am open to all suggestions. Any other people we can recruit. All there are in my neighborhood are grocery-go-getter landys :-(

Yo Seann, where are you? Time to hit the dirt! How about you, Hadaz? And what about Harley? Interested? I'll try to find emails for all the guys I know of around Phx...

How about Sycamore Creek? It's a nice group of trails that follows the creek for a while (should be some water in there this time of year). There's some fun river boulders to run over and then the trails diverge from the creek and go up the washes for miles. Nice scenery, too. The trail head is north on the Beeline Hwy (Rte 87) about 25 miles north of Scottsdale, maybe about 10-15 miles north of Ftn Hills. Sycamore Creek turnoff is directly opposite of the Four Peeks turnoff on the west side of 87. Maybe meet on Shea Blvd in Ftn Hills early a.m. Sunday?

here's a couple old pics:

I've emailed Hadaz, Harley, Bill Kobs, and you Seann. How much down-travel can your DII take with the stock lines? Might be a bad idea to test that out on the trail...get on it! what are you waiting for? You've been to Sycamore Creek, haven't you?

Is it best to meet at the begining of the trail, or somewhere in PHX. I live in scottsdale but will be coming from chandler sunday morning. How early are you talking about? Anything is fine with me. Just let me know.

Easiest to meet on Shea Blvd up there in Ftn Hills (Shea dead ends into Hwy 87). There's gas stations, McD's, banks, & all the modern conveniences of American suburbia. Or we can meet at trailhead. Doesn't really matter, but if we meet at trailhead I generally start to wander off if I'm the first one there :)

Coming from Chandler, you can head north on the 101 and then east on the 202 to Country Club Blvd (Country Club is the same as Hwy 87). Head north on CClub/87 until you come to Shea about 10-15 miles north.

I'm up at the crack of dawn, so any time is fine for me. How about 8:00 or 9:00?

Perfect! Gives me excuses to get stuck and use my winch! Im planning on bringing my lil smokie grill some burgers, dogs, etc..
Bill can get in and out of what ever the hell he wants! Geez, never see wheelin in AZ till you see Bill.
Bill, I have a question for ya has your wife been driving your Disco at all? I see a really really cute woman driving around in a Disco that looks identical to yours? If so my compliments! Hope to see everyone Sunday!

Seann
still trying to find abs lines

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Bluegill (Bluegill) on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 06:24 pm: Edit

Damn, 0603 - you called my bluff! No problemo, 1-year-old daughter has me up by 0530...

You got that winch on there? Cool. I'll bring some recov gear as well. Food is good too. Brakes are overrated, so don't sweat the lines too much (just kidding).

Yes, my wife has commandeered the Disco and she is hot.

Bluegill:
I received your email and I have no problem meeting at 9:00 rather than 6:00a.m. It will allow me to be less grumpy. I have never done sycamore creek but what ever you think is best in the time we have blocked out. Hopefully, seann will decide to come after all, along with others.
Let me know what time and which place is most convenient for you(no kids here).
Brian

Bill and Brian,
Well. To my surprise I am yet again getting screwed over by LR Scottsdale on my brakeline install. Honestly speaking, what are we planning to do? Run trails or screw around in the river? I cant do any massive flexing got a few inches of give on abs and brake lines.
Bill are you guys planning on meeting at the GIANT gas station like we did last time?

Seann

Determined to make it Sunday

Seann:
I am probably the limiting factor here. My 95 rig is stock. Therefore, clearance/flexing and river crossings will most probably still be inferior to your truck. If need be we can adjust the trip as we go to accommodate anyone's needs. I am not exactly sure where we are planning to meet. Giant sounds fine. Shea and 87?

Hey guys, I'm open for any time on Sunday. Helping with baby in the morning is off my shoulders, so I say we shoot for early - 8:00 or earlier, and hit Sycamore Creek. Brian, don't worry about stock - I've only done Syc Creek stock (haven't been there in a while). Seann, I'd hate to see you break a line - if trails are eroded & gullied then you can always park and ride with one of us. No big plans from my end - just want to get out of the city for few hours.

Let's say Giant gas station on south side of Shea, about 1/4 mile west of 87 at what time?
7:00
8:00
9:00
?

brian - blue disco

See you there.

Shane,

Brian, Seann, and I are meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in Fountain Hills at the Giant Gas station on the south side of Shea just west (about ¼ mile) of Hwy 87 (the Beeline Hwy, which is also Country Club Blvd).

Trails are easy; Seann I are lifted a bit but Brian is in a stock 95 Disco. We're going to Sycamore Creek which I've been to plenty of times bone stock.

My cell # is 602-290-0595. Give me a call if you want, or meet us there. We'll be hangin around at the Giant until about 7:45-8:00 tomorrow morning.

Hope to see you there.

-Blue

I emailed you as well.
