Ho, you must be pleased that your name is associated with such a jolly event this time of year!

Well here's another event with your name

John and I had lunch on Tuesday and we talked about doing a day run sometime during the Christmas vacation. I'd say any day between Dec 27-30. We both thought a week-day outing is well deserved for working (or sitting on) our hineys all year. However, I'm open to any day.

If the terrain is wet, rigs with wenches, err, I mean winches are especially invited.

Lastly, it is open to all marques, not just Rovers. Xers, Toys, Jeeps etc., are welcome, to make this a "let's-just-enjoy-the-trails-and-leave-our-egos-at-home" run. No offense to my outspoken Disco brethren, or anyone else for that matter.

I up for either weekend or weekday. I would prefer Area 51 if it's dry, and Gorman if it is wet. Azusa is even closer so a quickie run there wouldn't be too bad at all, followed by a pastrami omelette at that place we went to when we first met.

My vote goes to Area-51 for the convenience of it. Very close civilization and freeways. I just hate driving 3 hours to do some wheeling and wheel only for 1 1/2 hours and drive back. Weekdays are not good for me but weekends are.

I would like to attend I'm currently in KS but i will be home in CA for Xmas holidays and will be driving so my truck and myself will be in Ca at the same time (oh the joys of the little things in life) anyway I live in the Irvine area and would like to drive up with anyone who would be interested would look forward to putting faces with names on this board. Brian, Ron and myself met at Azusa Cyn today. There was mud galore and even heavily modified Fords and Chevys with 35" & 36" super swampers & 6" lifts were getting stuck. Wait, that wasn't mud, it was mother nature playing tricks on us. It was more like sludgy, soupy, slick shit that swallowed trucks whole.

Brian took some pics, and I should tell you now, it was humbling Everyone was getting stuck then turning around and pullin out the guy that just pulled you out.

Of course, with BFG A/Ts with half tread gone, I was not going to be able to help anyone out. Not for lack of trying, mind you. I tried to come to Ron's rescue who was going to Brian's rescue. Next thing you know, three Discos stuck in thigh-high mud. My rig stalled 'cause the slushy mud found it's way to my dist cap.

The real drama was when two tricked out Chevy's collided in the deepest part of the mud swamp. One shevy ended up with its left front wheel on the other's roof!! It broke both of the older crew cab's windows, crawled up the door and ended up resting on top of the truck.

After getting pulled out and drying up the dist cap, we played for a while on the mud, crawled up the side of the walls and left before sundown.

What a day!

Yep, .... "California Quicksand", heh heh heh ... we used to sometimes play around in stuff like that when I was young ... inadvertantly discovered it with our horses (had to be VERY careful, and talk about clean up!!!). Later, we used to ride along in "friend's big brothers' jeeps" (broke my nose on a roll bar once ... my poor dad ...). Glad you boys had so much fun!
