One of my favorite trail desserts. Very simple to make and forcefully elegant in taste. Added benefit of quickly clearing the mouth of any heavy meat after-flavor, making that next beer a virginal experience.
Strawberries in Lemon Sauce
Approx 4 servings
Ingredients
About a pound of strawberries
Two large lemons
1/2 cup castor sugar (plain sugar ok, brown sugar does not work well, neither does honey).
Mixing Bowl
large mixing / serving spoon
Peel the green off the strawberries
Quarter the strawberries
Place into bowl
Squeeze lemon juice on the strawberries
Add sugar
Mix well
Serve immediately.
I know, this does not sound like much, but I assure you, it is ass kicking. Prevents scurvey too on long trail rides.
Trust me, the lemon juice has a very, very strong effect when mixed with the strawberries, do not let the mixture sit -- or you will end up with mush.
Put the juice on and serve.
