After replacing my pads and rotors and bleeding the brakes 3 times, I have a soft pedal that seems to go down too far. If I pump once it is ok. No problem stopping but am worried that the master cylinder might be going. Any ideas on how to insure it is the master cylinder before wasting time rebuilding it?

1. The MC is cheaper than the MC rebuild kit (Why I dunno)

2. Clamp off all four rubber lines and see if the soft pedal goes away (obviously don't drive like this!). If it does not it is the MC.

...sounds like there's still air trapped in there. Are you bleeding the old way, by pumping it up, or are you using a power bleeder ? Those LR brakes can be a bitch to firm up.

If it wasn't soft before you changed the pads, I'd doubt it's the MC.

I had the soft pedal symptoms too. It started when I replaced the stock pads in the rear with Kevlar ones. I struggled and struggled to get it right. Finally, I went back to the Lockheed pads (stock) and the soft brake pedal went away.

I hope this helps!

Thanks,
Mike B.
