I put together a little spreadsheet to figure lift heights and such with various springs.
Ron- this spreadsheet should answer your "what is a 1" lift" question.
I need to know how much weight is on each corner and how much each axle weighs. I've never weighed my truck at the dump or anything, so I don't really know what it weighs. Then I can subtract the unsprung weight from the sprung weight and get the spring calculations right.
Thanks,
Clint
BTW I ordered RTE RR3 2" springs for my brother's CB lift.

Let us know how the CB lift goes.
Axle is ~250lbs but by the time you get 4 tires and wheels and radius arms etc. I would say maybe ~700 in unsprung weight
Anyone else care to guess?

My Goodyear MT/Rs 245/75/R16 tires on American Racing 16" steelies weigh 85 lbs each. So, that's 340 lbs for tires and wheels alone.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Mike B.

So figure 4500 lbs for a stock d1
subtract 700# for axles etc and you get 3800 lbs sprung weight. 900 # on each front and 1000# on each rear spring.
Does this sound reasonable?
We're planning on doing the lift next weekend...
I'll report back.

Clint I think your disco is more like 5000lbs
I dunno. I am guessing. I never weighed the darn things, but I have lifted them while they were off the truck.

all of the data that I can find on the internet shows the curb weight to be 4450 lbs or so for the regular D1.
Are you saying my disco (SE7) is 5000? Sure its more than normal, but how much can two seats, a step and rear A/C weigh?
Too bad nobody has been to the dump lately to weigh their rig...

Do you have sliders, a roof rack, a bullbar a winch etc?
Plus the driver (and passengers) and gear, full tank of gas etc.
