Wow! You guys are amazing! Discoweb production was stellar and I love seeing all those Rovers going on some nasty stuff! It's also nice to put faces to names for some of the guys that post the most around here. great job, the best $19 I've spent and it seems I may be helping Ho, Axel and Kyle pay for the DWeb...also a plus!

Thanks again guys!

William E.

Glad you like it, William! Now, if anyone is thinking of getting a copy for Christmas, I would recommend getting your order in now if you want to make sure it gets there in time... Makes a great gift, and the proceeds from the video sales goes towards keeping DiscoWeb up and running.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Axel Haakonsen (Axel) on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 09:57 am: Edit

Video number 2 will probably be out some time in the first half of next year. That one will be a "Back East" video with shorter segments from various runs and events back here in the North east.

I agree, the boys did a great job on the Moab trails. Very nice tape. Axel deserves praise for the sophisticated cutting and splicing. I was just hopeing for a little character development . . . and when the camera panned to Ho in the darkness of Pritchett Canyon, I thought the video was taking a turn and Ho was going to open up and recount a childhood bedtime story

So in the upcoming 'Back East Boys' tape will Kyle tell us a trailside story

Yeah, I like the video, too! The picture quality is great, not shaky, crappy video like I would have expected. And of course it is fun to watch all the Rovers doing their stuff! It's not bad for an amateur video, actually! Pretty professional looking.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Moe on Thursday, November 29, 2001 - 04:58 pm: Edit

Yes, a Blair Witch theme sounds great . . . where you guys get lost in the woods and keep stumbling across abandoned Discos that have been stripped and gutted of parts and then filled with twigs A bit of black and white film and lots of shaky camera shots will help carry the story and somewhere in there we get a torchlight tale from Kyle told within the confines of his darkened disco.

I am willing to pay more $ for the extra work involved in this video.

Yo! I got mine last night. It's nice to finally be able to see what some of you f*ckers look like. :)

Great video. I expected Kyle to look much different than he does. Some horns, maybe, or a perpetual snarl. Turns out he's not satan. I'm sure the X-men will be shocked if they see it. I expected Ho to be younger, for some reason, and I expected Axel to look like a blonde Lou Ferrigno. Turns out he's wiry. Go figure.

Brian looks like he's waiting for the discoweb porn movie to be filmed (think of the revenue for the site).

Seriously, I watched half of it last night and was impressed. Good job, fellas.

I dunno, Brian, you're just running around with your shirt off half the time, got the tunes fired up in the jeep (whoops, I mean "j**p"), etc etc.

Maybe all you guys should come down here for Mardi Gras. We could run the trails in St. Francisville where they have the J**p jamboree, and Brian could produce a "Discos gone wild" tape.

Although, Ho's walker/wheelchair might prove to be a hinderance on a crowded Bourbon St. :)

I feel bad, because I've never sent any pictures in or anything and Ho has no ammo to retaliate. I'm just playing, though. It started off with an innocent comment that I thought he'd be very, very young and kind of escalated. I hope nobody thinks there is any malice intended, cause there's not.

I'm just teasing, Ho. I'm no spring chicken myself.

I'll see if I can scrape some pictures up, but I don't do anything really cool in my truck like you guys do. Only been off the road less than 10 times, and it's usually pretty mild, no real photo-ops.

I'm in New Orleans, and we have a lot of mud and water, but no real terrain/elevation. Next time I'm in Mississippi at my buddy's hunting camp I'll take a coupla pictures to send in.

Then Ho can light me up one side and down the other.

Unless you guys want to come down here for Mardi Gras and show me how to wheel. There are supposedly some kick ass trails about an hour and a half away from here. If there is to be an Iron Chef championship, by all rights it should be held in one of the worlds best places to eat, wouldn't you say? :)

That water fal is a walk in the park if you take it far right. Him having some difficulty there was due more to me spotting him up the harder side then then it was to his or his trucks ability. Those hard ass BFG tires dont help much either :)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Ho Chung (Ho) on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:17 pm: Edit

kyle, i thought you had the hardest tires with 55 psi?

speaking of climbing... mike did real well on suicide hill... he was one of the few that made up without winch... mainly thanks to MY spotting. :)

i think the spot PJ is talking about, the flex didn't do much there. so ultimatly, had to push the button.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Kyle on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:21 pm: Edit

Well yes , I was running 55 PSI in the Futuras but the tread compound is nice and soft on them. The BFGs are hard as a brick...
The flex doesnt come close to a locker or two in most places and its pretty evident there on the tape.. But I remember giving him shit about those hard ass tires right after he climbed up.. :)

I ran 235/85s in Moab in 2000 and 265s in 2001. Both aired up to where they should be. The 265 is definately softer and did better then the 235. They also dont shed lugs like the 235s did. Over here in the mud the 235s were great..

Yeah my 235s look like they were worked over by a flock of woodpeckers carrying pick-axes after that trip. They are still barely holding up though with 30k+ miles on them. Thinking of giving the 265s a shot next. Pep-Boys in my area just bumped up the pricing on them to @ $100 each.

I was running 235/85 Enforcers also, and they were chewed up like CVC's (maybe driver-induced here, too). I recently switched to 265/75's because I'm now in desert more than east coast mud. The Pep Boys deal is hard too beat: still $90 here.

Axel-
Ill buy the Rental excuse, I am glad it was not a case of Disco envy, Looks like he had a great time regardless.
Also a great visual impact to justify (Wife thing) to invest in some body armor by the sound of the scrapes looks like you all got your money's worth
500 rear bumper or 500 for new rear panel, bumper works for me. an ounce of prevention worth pound of cure.

Ok what was the favorite vendors for the body armor? OH did I start something. No please an honest evaluation would be nice no SG blows monkey %%$^&&* and RTE rules, All the vendors have pros and cons with there products, But I do agree with what I have seen RTE is well engineered. Base this on your Moab testing it would be interesting

Great job Directing Kyle it reminded me of Patton directing those tanks in the mud somewhere in Italy.

How many of you chopped the rear quarter? it looks like 1/2 up needs to be done for a decent drop off? Also I see most have trashed the rear muffler, Mine in now gone sounded like shit any way. How far back on the gas tanks took hits?

Any tires pop the beads on the "wedgies"

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Ho Chung (Ho) on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 - 07:06 pm: Edit

yes WS. inside joke there. :)

for rear bumpers, you dont' have much choice right now. SG is better among what's out there. but the price tag.. ouch. other than that, my vote goes to SG rear bumper.

kyle director... LOL

gas tank is well protected by the trailer hitch. just don't chop it off.

can't say so about the rear bumper, though.

Body Armor: We had sliders from several vendors, SG, RTE and I believe some others. They all did well in my opinion. RTE is beefier than SG, but my SG sliders have done the job on more than one occasion.

Rear muffler. The fancy Borla tip on mine is mangled a bit, but the pipe itself inside of the flare is intact.

Nobody popped any tires off the rim this year.

Axel,

Sliders,

Terrain Masters' or Trail Masters sliders? Any constructive comments?

Mufflers & Tips

I have a Borla replacement muffler, I like it and the price was unbeatable, not the whole package deal only the muffler

I want to route the new Pipe up a bit higher
in the rear, Ill go with a down curved tip.
Will this cause back gasses in the rear?

Borla SS tips for all there hype do they calm the tones down a bit Like the Carbon resonators do?

Someone routed a tip through the rear on a previous post? Any long term reports on that?

Just an observation not intended to slam a vendor but looking at the SG Kalahari setup with the Bola Carbon Housed Resonator Tip, gone in 60 Seconds (110.00) trail kill, It might work routed through the lower rear quarter.

I have heard this tip it does produce a nice sound
food for thought

DD

I don't have any experience with Terrain Master or Trail Master sliders, so I am not going to comment on them

If you route the pipe up higher, watch out for the lights in the bumper. If the exhaust is too close, you may melt the harness there.

Personally I don't like the exhaust routed through the rear quarters. That's just my subjective opinion, based on looks. Others may differ. Don't know what long term effect that kind of routing would have on the paint in the surrounding area, though.

Axel,
Good point on the rear lights, I just replaced them. Its amazing when the car was the wife’s daily driver, I was beat-up worse then doing the Baja 1000, up and back!!!

Ditto on the Fender cut just a thought, Might have to add Neon to the under side if I start doing major Body Mods
