I've got a 97 disco with 65K on the clock. Apon cold start up, if I immediately put in gear and the gas touched, A knocking noise emits sounding like the crank or a connecting rod. I've used premium as well as regular oil changes of valvoline 10-30, I'me not against replacing the bottom end bearings, but does anyone have any ideas???????

Sounds kinda young to be having lower end bearing problems. Has the vehicle been services regularily? How sure are you that it's not a noisy lifter? When it is cold, it can sound very similar.

Anyway, aren't you supposed to warm the engine up a bit before rushing off?

Thanks,
Mike B.
