hey guys-

i've noticed that my headlamps don't extend out as far anymore after lift and bull bar- i know the car is a little nose low. does anyone know what head lamps specs are/should be?

if memory serves me right - the car should have a full tank of gas- 25ft from a wall at night - then what? ron? anyone?

There are little screws. Adjust the top ones in a bit or bottom ones out (wait is that disco or RR I did that on?). I think it is 3ft up at 25ft but I dunno. Who cares just get it close.

Be warned though. Even within spec everyone will flash their brights at you. Being so high you shine right in through the rear window or windscreen of most sedans.

the disco lamps have those plastic thingamajigs - i think the plastic collars just rotate to adjust.

3ft? i'll give it a shot thanks.

on a totally unrelated question - when turning the steering wheel at low speed, as when backing out of a parking space, i get a rubbing sound from either the wheel or steering column. dry srs contacts maybe? happened after truck haven.

I dunno you sure you are not rubbing on your radius arms?

Steve look at your radius arms. You'll prb see a clean spot where the tire rubs. If it rubs when you turn the wheel all the way to the right, it's most likely your right radius arm...and vice-versa.

thanks guys-

it's not a rub at full lock - i know what that is. it's when you are backing up and have to quickly spin the steering wheel to manouver.

it's a rubbing sound almost from inside the steering column- maybe dust and crap in the steering damper? i remember an article about worn steering column bushes on a disco once.

the noise happened after truckhaven - 1st time heavy off road. it did it stock and it does it lifted. it was worse with the xpc's as they were wider and had more turning resistence. with the bridgestone mt's it's a little less actually.

so - i guess i'll check the steering linkages and perhaps renew that stock damper with an ome one. i was going to do the d90 conversion - but maybe not now.

Let me know too. Mine does it in the first turn of the steering column as when backing out of a parking space. It does it once, sometimes two. Then nothing. After 2-3 days it does it again.

talked briefly to my l/r centre- he thought it might be steering column bushes, as srs brushes do not need to be lubricated. but what makes the most sense is the damper -

will go in next week and will post results

If you have the OME steering dampner, it could be packed with mud or the steel sleeve may be bent. I've had both. And they both sound the just like what you described.
