I know this has been in here a hundred times but I couldn't find the name. Looking for organic pads for my 95 Disco. Want organic because most seem to agree that they won't squeek. My pads have wear left but even after trying all the tricks, they still squeek within a few days after cleaning and applying anti squeek stuff.
heard about [email protected] does he have brake pads?

Go to your local auto parts store, as far as choosing organics, they suck. Squeaking is caused from the pads not seating correctly as the pistons push on them. This is most commonly caused by either bad rotors or not using a backing on the pads when they are installed

Organics suck? Come on... they are inexpensive, they don't squeak, they dry quickly when wet and stop pretty well - what's not to like? The only downside is quick wear, but since they are cheap and easy to change and stop better than anything wet - I'd trade that any day..........
My .02 -
Bill (have only used organics! )

i think my wagner pads cost 24, definitely low 20's for semi-metallics. they don't squeak, stop fine since i disabled ABS. And outlast organics. keep your .02

Al - did you permanently diasble ABS or put in a switch or anything like that?
Curious because I want to put an on/off switch in mine.....

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried some local shops like Autozone and Big A and they didn't carry them. Nathan @ www.discountrovers.com has some for $70 + shipping for the whole set (4 wheels). They are Lockheed from the UK. I think I'll get them from Nathan.

Bill, you can make ABS switchable -
use a toggle switch, an inline automotive fuseholder, one or two pieces of ~18Ga wire, and a pair of blade connectors.
connect switch and fuseholder in series, and plug them into the ABS fuse socket on the fuse panel.
i have never had good luck with semi-metallic pads. besides, the semi-metallic pads wear rotors much faster than organic.

Thanks Peter - that's the simple solution I was looking for...
