Help... During the past two storms my wipers will not work unless I turn the wiper dial on & off multiple times then the wipers will work??? Prior to this winter I have never had any problems.

Does anybody have any suggestions???

Probably a short in the stalk/switch. Fixable by replacing the whole stalk.

Mine does some funky stuff too like that, haven't figured it out yet. Does it most when in the intermittant setting. Sometime I will have to manually turn it off when the wipers are at the bottom as they will only move a few inches at a time. Sorry I couldn't be of any help, just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I will dig into mine when it gets worse. If I do it now it will be too difficult because it is intermittant.

I just had a similar problem with my wipers. Intermitted setting wouldn't work along with the windshield washer, it would spray the fluid but not wipe. Also my rear fog lights wouldn't work either. They were all somehow tied in together. Most of the time it would not work, when I needed them. Sometimes they would, when I didn't need them. Turned out to be a short in the fuse box.

I also have problems with the intermittent wipers. Sometimes, the go about halfway up, pause, go a little further, pause, and so on. This does not happen all the time, and seems to be linked to how much it's raining or snowing. The drier the windshield, the more it happens. I heard that the fix for this is to lubricate the workings, but so far have been unable to figure out how to get at them. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Did you have to replace the fuse box? Everything else appears to be working fine with the exception of wipers and its only when its wet outside...

I haven't fixed mine yet, not bad enough to make me dig into it.

Seems like every time we have discussed this subject everyone says it does it worse when rains or snows.....isn't that about the only time we use the wipers? hehe

Try oiling linkages with copious amounts of WD40. Use to help when they stop in the middle of nowhere, moves slowly etc.

Going home yesterday on a 500km trip, I had to turn them off when they were at bottom when at speed 1 or 2, but they parked lovely from intermittent wiping... Tonight I will have to get out with the WD40 again - hope it works fine, or else relay will be suspect.

That's not only problem arose on that trip: Also steering shaft UJs seized...
Last time I went same road, my PAS pump went bust.

Today was a dry weather day, so I decided to try my wipers and sure enought they turned on!!!

Thoughout the day I would turn on my wipers and every dam time they worked. There must be an exposed wire going to the wiper motor but I can't see any bare wire exposed???

Any ideas???

The humidity could effect anything, switches, motors, relays, wire connections. It could be in the interior or exterior, but there must be a common fault in the wiper system. It's wierd that it is so common on the Disco's. When someone finally isolates the problem there will be a celebration!
