hello all, I was just wondering if any of you have experienced some kind, if any, uneven tire wear? for some reason I had to switch my front tires to the rear and vice versa... because my front tires have more wear then the rear. any particular reason why this happened? I'm gonna be in the market for some new tires soon but I don't want this to happen to the new set when I get them...

thanks for the quick response Ho. the last time I went to the dealer I told them about it, they said some shit and just told me that they would just rotate the tires. is this something that they should have taken care of?

if dealer should or shouldn't have taken care of the problem is another issue.
uneven wear in what way? worn out on the inner portion of the tread? outsides? cupping?

warren-
is it the 'piano key' look of the outer lugs? my personal feeling is the shocks are spings are getting weak - most likely shocks. a nice set of ome firms would do nicely on a stock disco.

thanks to the both of you for your responses... Ho it's the inside of the tires that are worn, there was some thread in the past and BlueGil was able to give some light on it I do see some cupping but that's normal... I guess I'm a bit frustrated because they say Disco's don't need to be aligned.

just check the tie rod for any bend. the tie rod is the rod under the pinion, and attaches both front wheels to each other.
and all you need to do for alignment is check the distance between the front of the front tires, and the rear of the front tires.
and rotate the tie rod ends to adjust the lenght.
it should be just a hair toe out.

Do you have ACE I was told that most cars with ACE wear unevenly. No personal experiance I waved that option.

i don't see the conneciton between uneven tire wear and ACE.... perhaps faster tire wear?
since we can say that drivers of ACE equipped vehicle tend to drive more aggressively, fucking up the tires in very short period of time.

Don't know mabey its the way the tires break to control the handling like I said just somthing I heard; but I didn't here it from Perrone if that makes it more creditable.

If they are wearing on the inside then its toed out too far. As Ho said the seering rod could be bent , that will do it...

Don't the fronts always wear down faster anyhow because of grinding on the pavement during slow-speed turning and parking maneuvers?
