Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone might have some insight on my problems. I have a 96 DI, SE7, stock besides Wilderness Roof Rack and cut front bumper. Heres the problems:

1. Clicking noise. Not all the time. Usually at low speeds after high speeds. Sounds like it is in sync with the rotation of the wheel. Sounds near the front, but I am not sure.

2. Popping noise. Sometimes when cornering (right I think) sharply and when braking kind of hard, but not all the time. Sounds like it comes from under me (drivers seat). I can kinda feel it, as if something pops up and hits the truck under me.

3. Looking at getting a lift sometime soon, and I know this has been discussed at length in the archives, but I need a clear answer. I am set on RTE i think, but not sure if I want 2 or 3 inches. I like the 3 inch look, but dont want to deal with vibes on my limited budget. Any ideas? How much could it cost to fix vibes in the end?

Thanks in advance for the help, any ideas will be benificial. Keep roverin'.

Frank,

Do yourself a favor and call John at Rovertym and buy a set of 2" HD. Add 10mm ARB spring spacers all around and you will be set for life. I just finished my install and love it.

1. Sounds to me like a nail in the tire.

2. Take a look at your front Radius arm bushings. It sounds like they may be loose or worn out.

3. I have the RoverTym 2" shocks and I am plenty happy with them. John is good people. Another option would be the OME HDs all the way around.

Thanks,
Mike B.

hmmmm, differential problem, perhaps??

Dunno, I am having problems (from rear end, around tight corners) ... I'm going to see a "doctor" tomorrow morning ... will report.

The popping you are feeling could be the scroll plates in the frame popping (there is one under your legs on the driver side). Discos have a problem with this, usually at the rear, there is a TSB for the rear but none for the front although scroll plates are used in both places. they pop as the frame flexes, usually with steering inputs.

Thanks everyone! I will look into it, I figured that it could be the diff, as nothing clicked when I rotated by hand though.

For the popping noise you could also check your pan hard rod to make sure that the bolts are tight.

For the clicking noise while the wheel is spining you may just have a large rock stuck in the tread or a nail.

As for the lift, you may also get vibes from doing a 2 inch lift. I did. It's just one of those things that you have to do and see what happens. If you do get vibes the amount of money to fix it depends on what is causing the vibes.

I've got the same loose something I can feel under my feet (driver's side) as well as popping. I know my bushings are worn, but more info on "scroll plates" please.
