Just wonder how easy a stock D2 to roll over. I am not talking about on the trail thou.
Some of you may have seen this already, but it is interesting.

if you arent haulin ass most stuff be can be corrected...as far as on the trail..I have seen disco on some pretty steep stuff.but whats on top also pays a factor as does lift tires sliders bumpers skidplates the list goes on..

I'm just amazed the kayak stayed on top. My Christmas list includes some new wheels to widen my stance. 95 disco $G stage III lift

looks like he hit a rock or object that pushed the car over like hitting a land mine. notice the upper structure of the car is seemingly intact despite numerous 'hits' on the roof.

Upper structure is intact probably due to the internal rollcage of the CT Discos. The roof rack is mounted through the roof to the cage, that is probably why it is still attached also.

If that's a D2... there never was a CT Disco II....
But, the grain is rough.... it does look like a genuine CT, doesn't it? Maybe that's not a D2....

It's hard to tell...
I thought that the handles looked like D2 handles at first, but going frame-by-frame, it kinda looks like the older handles of the RRC/D1s....
Hmmm.....
There aren't legs from the roofrack to the gutter, tho'....

But I was wondering if D2 is easier to roll, compares with other 4x4 of the same class (or you may not consider them as "same class"), such as Jeep GC, Pajero/Montero, 4runner, or even the D1 on road, with no mod or anything on the roof.

DII w/ ACE and 255-55-18's is least prone to rollover. The ACE and the wider stance of the tires creates a pretty stable set-up in rollover avoidance....I am suprised how stable my DII is at high speeds.

ace helps a lot but still ace or no ace, it depends on the driver. yes being a tall vehicle looks can be deceiving... take into account that all discos are aluminum panelled w/ only the roof being steel. i think that discos' center of gravity is considerably low compared to it's height. on the other hand, i heard lots of stories of d2's rolling over on road. dunno the statistics on roll overs compared to other vehicles of same class. i'm sure you can easily roll over a tahoe too....

Of all the SUV's or trucks, which I consider the ROver to be first and foremost, I would rather have the rover around me, and trust it more not to roll than any other trucks. I've seen them do some nutso stuff, and it seems like they are designed to take a lot of punishment relatively safely. I don't know thats true in a GMC Avalanche plastic special. In my opinion, of course.

I was told by the dealer that all Discos are steel! True or False? RR are aluminum paneled.

The Range Rover has more steel than the Disco... check out how rusty the rear liftgate and tailgate are on most of the RRCs....
The Disco's roof is steel (and chassis, and other parts, etc.). The door skins, fender skins, hood skin, all Birmabright (an aluminum alloy that was originally developed in Birmingham, England, for use in aircraft).

RRC only has steel hood and tailgate. Everything else is AL. Try putting a magnet mount CB antenna anywhere on a Rangie.

the Disco II didn't went to any Camel Trophy Event as we all know>
Now how easy is to roll over... I don't know...
Cause I rolled over once with my 6" lifted 4runner, now with a little lean of my disco I feel unsafe... I think Ill have to knock off this...

The September 2001 issue of Land Rover World has some pics of a D1 rolling at Moab with NCRC.
Not having an internal cage, the roof rack seperated from the vehicle and there was a bit of damage, but it did drive out under it's own power to meet up with the flat bed to tow it away. No injuries either (besides pride).

The Disco 2, along with the BMW X5, are the only vehicles to lift two wheels during the Autoweek slalom test. Until the new Liberty (Cherokee) managed a double roll with twist.
The point is, if you want a performance vehicle - buy a Porsche. If you want the most capable stock 4x4 then the Land rover may be for you, just don't think it will handle like a sports car. FWIW, a stock Disco 1 will roll at around 43 degrees static.
