I am wanting to install an air compressor in the Disco, but do not want to run tank to tank. I am wanting to purchase a motor driven air compressor for hard/portable mount in trunk. Any recommendations upon which one?
Thanks
Seann

Thomas Air compressors. The 1/4 horse unit is almost as good as a belt driven Sanden rotary. They use these on the Hummers. I imagine the 1/3hp unit is even better. Now there's a company that produces even better compressors than that. I think it's called Outback.

Have you thought about going with a CO2 tank instead? Price is about the same (or cheaper) and they will air up your tires much quicker. Plus no heat and smell from inside your Disco. Also, you will have enough air to reseat your tire if it comes off the rim. I had a compressor and thought pretty highly of it until I tried to help a fella whose tire came unseated. Next week I bought a CO2 tank. PowerTank and TrailAir are two models that come to mind.
Thanks,
Mike B.

I got a cheap air compressor and am actually pretty happy with it. Got it at Autozone for about $45. Puts out pretty good volume for the price, says it's for truck tires. I am in no way comparing this to the nice compressors I have seen mounted in some of the guys rigs but it's a good backup or starter model. Seen some really nice ones for about $150+.
This ones pretty nice avail. at www.expeditionexchange.com for $195
