have a '96 Disco ABS prob- under normal braking the ABS system seems to be activated and it pulses and sucks the pedal down then the car seems to "skip" and lose brake pressure get no help from dealer , anyone have this problem any help in troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

You could unplug the abs module under the hood and see if your normal brakes work ok.
Also it may be one of the sensors.
Is your abs light on?

my previous 96 did the same thing. abs light came on occasionally as well. it was a loose abs sensor for the light, but they never did find the problem with the brakes.

In my 96, same problem:
1) Unplug the sensor on the front wheeles and plug it back in
2) If that does not fix it, replace them.
I fixed my problem with step #1, two month later with step#2

yes, my abs light is on and was wondering if I fix the problem myself will the light reset and go out or is it a dealer thing?
