Heard these mentioned in another thread.
http://www.piercesales.com/
Anyone know anything about them. The price is good, but that might be because they are not. Just thought I would check with you guys. Also, what would it take to get the PTO or hydraulic models to work in a Disco?

I know several people using the 24v versions. They seem pleased with them. I've never seen one myself. They don't seem to advertise to the 4x4 community.

Its pretty much just an Ramsey RE. The gear case will have to be taken off and spun to the back. The winch is made so that it will go either way..

"Made so that it will go either way..."

Kyle,
What do you mean go either way, are you referring to the gear case? Why would it have to be spun to the back?
What about quality? Are these winches any good? They look beefy.
What would be the advantages to the 24volt version? What would be required to run it? A second battery? In series or parallel?

The way the gear case is facing right now will interfere with a mount on the truck. The motor should be pointing rearward and you are good to go. Its not bad to pull it apart and spin it around..

You can get a remanufactured RE12000 direct from ramsey for about $540 plus shipping. I called ramsey and they said it is complete with wires, solenoids, remote, cable. It just has some used parts in it and cannot be sold as new. Also there is only a 30 day warranty. This seems like a good deal to me, for something you put on the front of your truck to get all beat up anyway...

Marc did you read that post off the dodge list?

Clint - I saw that deal too, but I would rather pay another $100 and get a full warranty if the Pierce is comparable. I just don't know anything about them.
Al - no. What post? Do you have a link?

Guys - I really want to know if this is as good a deal as it seems to be - if this really is about the same as an RE, isn't this a great deal?

Is 9000 lbs. enough for a '95 Disco? It is about 1 1/2 times the loaded weight.
C'mon, some of you guys with a little more experience help me buy my first winch.
Thanks in advance for all you help.

Man , I already attempted to help. The winch is basically an RE. I dont know about the guts but for all intents and purposes its the same damn thing...

don't buy it.
buy the Ramsey refurbished that was mentioned earlier... it has the motor already in the right position.. it's Ramsey and it is dirt cheap... and for the money you can get a 10K or 12K
the end!
Simon.
