Has anybody had to do this? I have to put pressure on my front doors to open them and assume the posts are working themselves out. I see thay have a hex head, but I'm not sure how to get to the backside to hold them. Appreciate the help.

Blake,

Mine worked loose shortly after I brought our Disco home. All you need to do is slightly loosen the post, re-position it, and tighten it back up. There is a "nut-plate", for lack of a better term, behind the post in the door jamb that the post screws into. Very easy to adjust. Just move the post in small increments until the door seats properly. Good luck!

On a related note, if I tighten that up, will it bring the window frame in as well? At 80mph on the highway, it's loud as hell, but if you pinch the frame in, almost all wind noise goes away.

Andrew: your related note on the wind noise--
The adjusting post is what will adjust out the catching/sticking condition. Release it a little, move up/down/in/out to get the 'easy open position, then tighten.

The wind noise: if your body panels/door gaps are correct, but the wind whistles, then you adjust the rubber seals; bring them 'out' to the door/window frame to seal. They are 'adjustable' a couple ways: best is to put thin fillets in the channel, or put spacer fillets on the metal lip. Wind noise will be gone if you do it right.

Only adjust the door striker if your door does not shut properly, or is misaligned with the adjoining body panels

To fix a misadjusted outside handle:
1)take off the door panel
2)find the acuator rod by moving the outside handle
3)take clip off rod and unscrew end to make effective length longer

To quieten wind noise:
Look on the jamb on the doors themselves. There are silver, 13mm? bolts on the front and rear of each door. Loosen these and pull/push window and frame to desired location. Just move the frame enough to slightly compress weatherstrip when closed, too tight and you will have to slam the door.

It's pretty common for the catches to need adjustment once in a while.

Usually you need to adjust for the opposite reason - the door bounces and doesn't fully latch on closing.

Thanks. I'll give the silver bolts a shot and let you know.

Thanks all. I think it's the outside latch that needs adjust as the insides work ok. I'll rip and tear later this p.m.

Appreciate it,

Blake
