Can the ring that the mirror snaps into (it surrounds the motors and has 2 fragile pieces of plastic that hook into the mirror) be bought separate from the motor. My dealer wants $86.54 for the motor and isn't sure the ring comes with it.

Scott,

You got lucky. Yes the ring can be bought separately. It does not show up in the Discovery parts manual, and is ordered as a range rover part. I had to replace one a couple of weeks ago after the wife and a column in a parking garage had a disagreement. The cost ………. $3.50……. and that was in Canadian dollars. I have the part number at home and will post it tonight. I will also forward it to Ho for the Parts Cross Reference section of the site.

A very cheep fix. Way better than the alternative.

I paid land rover rockville $300.00 for an entirely new mirror. ALL that was broken was a little part of the plastic ring that the mirror snaps into. Why... oh why.. did I get so suckered. I will religiously check this site before i ever do anything, but cross the street, again!
