part1
part2

i found this laying at the bottom of my right front fender while fixing my antenna. The antenna had droped down and latched at the bottom of the fender and only raised a quarter of the way up. The rod is aluminium, about 12 inches long, hollow on one side and has a rubber plug with a hole in the other. I have no idea where it goes or what it does if anyone has any idea please let me know.

CW,

Is that a manual antenna? I assume it is. I just tore out my broken-off manual antenna, and that piece looks like the sleeve that houses the antenna when you push it down into the fender. It was just crimped on to the threaded portion that sticks through to the exterior to recieve the chrome "nut". You should notice that the hollow end has four or so crimps in the end of it. That is where it was attached to the mounting portion of the antenna. It is just a shroud for the compressed antennae sections. You could probably just refit it and crimp with some pliers to get it to stay

Ditto what Mark said. It looks like the lower portion of a manual antenna.
