1995 disco 68k
The truck wants to die at idle. Not the stepper motor (brand new). The Scottsdale dealership says that several internal parts of the distributor are shot. Of course they only sell the entire distributor for $850 installed. I did have some problems last month with my rotor (which I screwed up during a tune-up - see previous posts) which and independent service garage seemingly fixed. They did disassemble my distributor to reset my timing. My question - whay the hell do I do. Should I drop of the Truck at the independent. If the dist. is shot, where can I get a used one. Cost?
Any advice would be great. I am getting a very very sour taste in my mouth with this truck and I getting to the point I don't want to replace it with another land rover :-(

Contact British Pacific or British Atlantic, I purchased a rebuild from them and a amplifier for a 88 RR. If no help there contact the rover engine guru Chris Crane at RPI

Thanks for the email Joshua. I do believe my particlar problem is my dist. The story starts like this. I (being an idiot) was giving the landy a tune up. I pulled up on the old rotor and the springs and such pulled out withing the distributor. I had no idea on fixing it, so I brought it to a local independent british repair shop. They reassemble my dist and it ran ok. now 6 weeks later, while getting a seperate repair done at the dealership they noticed my check engine light (been on for a long time) They asked to reset the engine ingnition system. "OK" well I go to pick it up and it won't idle at stop lights. I bring it back. They say the there is a broken (something) in the dist. They only sell whole ones. I probably have to bring it back to the independent and bitch.
Shit I am having a bad week.
Brian
