Are these compatible? I'm trying (see the classifieds) to get steelies, and am curious about some Disco II steelies that are out there...
I thought I saw that somewhere here but cannot find it in the archives or tech section.
Thanks,
Andy

Hey!
I was flipping through LRM at Borders today, and they have adapters...
Essentially looked like a spacer, so that you could bolt the wheel from one onto the other...
Might be worth further investigation...

Leslie:
Was that the current LRM?
Thanks,
Andy

It was the one still on the newsstand, so yes, it was the current one... hmmm..... I'm pretty sure it was LRM, I know it wasn't LRE.... there's a chance it could have been LRW, but....
Let me check, and see if I can figure out exactly which it was... I'll post when I find something...

Hmmm.... not sure, but it looks like it might have been LRW instead of LRM....
Let me see if I can find who was making it....

I think it might have been Simmonites, but I can't find it on their website.
I'll look some more tomorrow...

Would it be less to purshase the DII style rims to fit a DI from a UK vendor rather than the $00.00 for the spacers plus the cost of the DII rims. I am sure you can find a similar style made in the UK

OK, now I'm confused...I was on the Paddock Spares website, and figured out 5 5-spoke steel wheels was 225 pounds. VAT does not apply, because they'd be shipping outside of the EU. So far I'm okay with this, right? Well, on the invoice (before you actually have your credit card or whatever billed) it says that the shipping cost to the US by Royal Mail is 0.00.
Can this be? That's 5 wheels for $325, including shipping from the UK?????

That's "225 pounds Sterling," of course...
;)
(although 5 steelies might not weigh much less!)

Shit, don't ask quesitons, just put that order in!!!
Considering a terrainmaster front winch bumper is $440 shipped to the US, this sounds pheasible.

Wow....quick response....
Kluge, are you out there reading this? Maybe we could put in a group order so your 98 could have cool wheels...
By Andrew Maier (White96disco) on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 - 04:42 pm: Edit |
Oh, shit.
Per the site, "carriage" is totaled only AFTER placing an order...
Made for an exciting few minutes, though...

must buy winch - must buy winch. Duuuude - don't tempt me bastard, you're breaking my concentration on my winch envy!
If you buy steel wheels you've also gotta by M/T's too or else all the neighbor kids will laugh at you!
That just seems like a REALLY good price - is there a catch? Has anyone else purchased from them?

so how much then?

I've put in a quote request for the 5-spoke steelies (aka "spare" wheels), and for the NATO-style steelies...
I'll post it when I find out...might be tomorrow before I find out.

I have purchased from them in the past good service but get a quote via email not from the web prior to authorization. Most UK suppliers use FEDEX watch the exchange rate also good deals are not so good with shipping and exchange rate
