If letting up the clutch a bit harsh (in all gears)on my 98 Tdi i experience a tiny thump, not at all like driveline excessive play(know how that feels! Got new UJs all ovr - no play in prop. shaft). The sound is very softened and the drive seems to shiver ( in a swampy kind of way?). The only part that, in my opinion, would produce a symptom like this would be the rear prop Hardy-disc? Is there a way too determine wether it's worn? There are no obvious signs as cracking on the exterior. How long do they last? Could it be any other bushings? Any ideas welcome!!

Check your motor and tranny mounts.
