I would like to purchase an in-dash cd player and maybe some upgraded speakers or amp. If anyone has any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.

Rip out and rewire the whole system. It'll be better and probably quicker in the end. :-)

Peter, I recently did what Tate recommends. I had a new deck installed. They rewired it to fun the corner speakers. I then had an amp installed under the pass. seat which runs the two subs in back. I replaced the subs w/ regular 2 way 6.5 inch speakers. It sounds pretty good and I got it all for about $300 at bestbuy. If you're on a budget do this. If you have more $ still do this but upgrade the corner speakers and run an amp to those.

What kind of CD player, speakers and amp did you purchase?

I installed a Alpine CDA-7863 and a 200 watt amp under the drivers seat for a set of 8" subs. The deck has 60 watts x4 and sounds great.
I bought it all off of Ubid.com
CDA-7863 213.00
PPA Amp 98.00
Rockford 8" subs 15.00ea
I will take out the stock Rover changer and sell it and buy the alpine changer to replace the stock one. The Alpine changer is 250.00 and the rover changers seem to sell for ~200.00.
