My remote key entry will lock the doors on my 99 LR, but the the unlocking mechanism does not work...strange! Does anyone have clue what's wrong and how I fixed it without driving 20mi to the dealer ship?

Do you hear a sound when you try to unlock? In other words, does the door actuator make a similar sound when it locks the doors?
Can you unlock the door manually? I assume you can. Since the main door actuator, which is on the drivers door is the one that makes all the others open/close, that could possibly be the problem.
It could also be a relay problem. I would first see if you can swap a good actuator if you have one or know of someone with one. If that fails, or if you can't find one, you might want to check to see that there is current going to the side of the actuator that unlocks it. How the actuator works is, when you lock the door, a relay sends current to one side (wire) of the actuator. And when you unlock the door, it essentially reverses the polarity by sending current to the other wire. (Ground is the common so it only needs the two wires to switch around)
I hope this helps.

I would first check if your other remote works!

Nothing happens when I try to unlock the door with the remote...no sound, just nothing :-( I also can unlock it manually..so maybe it is the actuator. I am still under warranty so maybe I'll have LR just fix it...It's just such a pain in the rear, becuase I was just there getting my water pump replaced (another story) and could of had them look at the key issue. Oh well, thanks for the help!
FYI, I checked the other remote key and its the same thing.
