Nick,
A) take the caps-lock off. We don't like shouting.
B) If you're gonna post about a place, braggning about it, you should post where it is, who runs it, etc.
For example:
"Guys, the greatest Land Rover shop is the Thatched Roof Garage in Kingsport, Tennessee. David Gage, the owner, is a great fella who has the best prices that he can give ya, does excellent work, and knows British vehicles inside and out. Check out his site at http://www.thatchedroofgarage.com ."
That's the way you should do it....

Hey Rob, you remember that tool that worked for thatched roof? What was his name again? Meeting that kid alone would keep me from that place and the fact that anybody hired them to work on vehicles wants me to question the owner's rep.

Leslie,
You gotta stop! If they hear me laughing too much at work they will know that I don't do shit.

LOL!!!
Al, that's FUNNY!
Yes, I was "blatantly" advertising for David...
No, I don't get paid one red cent for working there... I'll help out with little things when I can offer a hand, but nothing big. David is the sole owner, employee, etc. etc.... "He's da man!!"
Just to clarify.....

I believe that guy was a customer.
David Gage is the owner and only person there.

Al, Rob,
Is this the kid with the roofless classic? Or, was this the kid who came over wih his friends and urinated on our tires as a friendly Southern gesture?

Al, Rob,
Okay, I've missed something.... I thought you were making fun of my silly post for David's shop. Now, I'm trying to figure out who you are talking about....
At MAR I had my Disco coated in mud (I have a Series too, but fixed up it's not....) I hang out and give a hand where I can around the Thatched Roof, but to say that I "work" would be WAY overstretching it....
Jeff also hangs out at the shop, too... doesn't have a Series, he's also got a Disco, and it USING it (Ron, this it the Jeff you and I rode along with at MAR... his Disco has come a long way since then, BTW). He's a kid, but, he's a good fella.
There was a kid at ?Uwharrie? with the top cut out of a RRC, it was the kid of one of the fellas at the Flying Circus in NC.... kept running up the price of the door stickers and toy Rovers at the auction on Sat. night....
Hmmmm...............
Al, Rob... describe the "kid" you're talking about, and we'll figure out who he is...
Hmmmm...............

Jeff seemed nice.
I never figured out who the guy they were talking about was.
I think they met this character at the 98 or 99 MAR but you would have to ask them (Rob and Al)
It has been brought up before. I know of only one person who refused to take his truck off road. It later sold (a bone stock SIII mind you) for $32,000. he does nice work

Rob, Al, I too would like to know whom you are reffering to. I am the sole individual at TRG, so you must have me confused with somebody else. Alot of people hang out with me at the events so it would not be hard to get the impression that they might be associated with me, rest assured, I am at present a one man show.

ok, my version, Al's might be different, this was a few years ago.
as i said the license plate was "watroad" or something that spells what road. i remeber this specifiaclly becase Al and I wanted to take a picture for kyle, which i did ,but it was too dark out and it didn't show up.
this was 2000MAR, it was a red series II 88" soft top that was just restored and the kid who was 16-18 years claimed to work for TRG.
i was driving buy him and he stoped me and asked "do you want to go offroad" i said sure.. then he proceeded to get his shit and come in my car. i asked him what he was doing and he told me that he didn't have and offroad ligths and didn't want to risk sratching the freshly restored series rover.
now what this rubbed me the wrong way. i hate to bring money into it but i think my disco was worth 20K at that time. and the series maybe 10k.. soo it seemed a little backward to Al and I. we denied the ride and said if you want to go offroad you can follow us in your truck.. it became obvious that the "kid" had never really been "offroad" before and was extremly intimidated, so he made up a few more reasons why he didn't want to drive. he continued dropping the TRG name throughout the 5 minute meeting. when Al and I left we decided that if TRG has posuers like that working for them, we dont want anything to do with them.
i've never told other people, dont buy from TRG , because they are Posuers. it was more a personal decision.

Oh, jeez....
That sounds like Adam... He's a high school kid in Boone, NC, has a red 88" SIIa (he has a Brit-tag, but I don't recall it saying anything in particular). Anyway, nice-looking Rover. He likes to go to the rallies, but only drives his Rover around the camp area. He then hitches rides with anyone that he can to go on trail rides, to the point of being annoying at times.
Adam's not a bad kid, per se, but he can really rub ya the wrong way sometimes.
However, let me make this clear. Adam does, in NO WAY, work for the Thatched Roof Garage. He is a customer of David's... his parents spend a good bit of money there... but he doesn't have business saying that he works there.
Was he about 5'9" or so, dark hair, not particularly thin? Ball-cap?
Al, Rob... as David said: David Gage is the owner and only employee of the Thatched Roof Garage. Jeff, me, Bob, we hang out there, and we try to help where we can, but even we aren't official employees. David "does it all"... if I'm there I'll help line a tub into place, or if Jeff's around he might help unload a shipping container (I missed helping with the last two, since they arrived while I was at work).
Don't hold what anyone else said against David... if you're dealing with the Thatched Roof Garage, the only person you'll deal with is David... and he's a genuinely good fella.
Regards,
-L
