TODAY'S QUOTES:
'I can't leave without my grilled cheese sandwich' said John Cockell after realizing he left it at the only food stop for 225 KM's. When it was suggested he could get another one later, he said 'It's not the same, this one had ham!'
About three minutes later, he said on the CB 'I could really use a grilled cheese sandwich about now!'
Later, about three more minutes later, he exclaimed during grief chatter on the CB 'Don't remind me about my grilled cheese sandwich, I can't talk about it!'
Some short time later again on the CB, Mary, finally realizing John's loss said 'Oh *that* grilled cheese sandwich, I gave it to the dog!'
Today was the weather day from hell! All day long during the long 460 KM journey from Radisson at the northern most part of the James Bay Road to Nemaska (the general location of the last Hudson's Bay trading post to close in 1970) we had ugly weather all the way! White outs, snow squalls, icy surfaces, even a snow plow was in the ditch- we avoided the ditch but we white-knuckled it pretty well for the whole day as the infrequent passing traffic was blowing up a cloud of white stuff obscuring vision with each pass!
The sky remained heavy with snow clouds, which obscured the sun, and indeed even the moon at night as we have, so far, not seen the northern lights which we came up here to see!
The detour to Nemaska was rough, too, as the road was pretty much a washboard as the result of continuous winter plowing.
