Seat Heater Installation

Tools required:
  • Hog-ring pliers (needle-nose pliers or diagonal cutters can be used to remove hog-rings)
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
Parts required:
  • Approximately 20 hog-rings (zip-ties can be substituted)
  • Seat-back heater element (LR part number AWR5157)
  • Seat-bottom heater element (LR part number (AWR5156)

  • Left Heated Seat Switch (LR part number YUG102430)
  • Right Heated Seat Switch (LR Part number YUG102440)
  • Heated Seat Switch Cover Plate (LR part number BTR3655LNF)

  • Approximately 3 hours

Seat heater element layout
Step 1: Unclip front seat-back upholstery clip
Step 2: Unhook tension cables from bottom of seat-back frame
Step 3: Expose and remove hog-rings
             Remove 6 hog-rings
Step 4: Remove adhesive backing from heater element and place heater element onto seat-back foam cushion

Step 5: Unscrew and remove front seat outer valence assembly
Step 6: Unclip seat-bottom upholstery retainer clips

(Note:  this clip is obscured behind seat-back rear upholstery clip)
Step 7: Lift seat-bottom upholstery to expose hog-rings
Step 8: Expose and remove hog-rings
             Remove 12 hog-rings
Step 9: Remove adhesive backing from heater element and place on seat-bottom foam cushion.  
Feed heater element wire out the back of the seat cushion and plug into seat wire harness under the seat bottom cushion.

Step 10: Secure upholstery with new hog-rings and attaching upholstery clips in reverse order shown in steps 1, 2, and 6
