I opted for the buyback on my VW Jetta TDI cheaterwagen so no longer need the dog guard I bought for it. Excellent shape, very solid, no rattles/squeaks/vibes. Compatible with panoramic sunroof. Installs/removes quickly without tools. Compatible with MY 2013 onwards Jetta wagon as well as the Alltrack. Retails for $140 + shipping (which was $30), so asking $100. It's bulky so local pickup in Seattle or RURR preferred. Dog is not included.

Good question. I have read articles about owners stripping the vehicles before returning them, including all the seats and interior. I'm not going to those lengths but I do plan to keep the first aid kit and floormats. I don't know who these people think they are going to sell all their TDI parts to...every TDI owner I know (and Seattle has a lot of them) is taking the buyback option, so there aren't going to be many of these cars left whose owners will want TDI stuff. Maybe my TDI-branded genuine floormats will one day have historical value.

I saw an article online about a smart fellow who bought 200 or so TDI's at the auction anticipatiing the buyback

I wish I had a 200 TDI. Oh, wait, that's not what you said. Where do you park all those cars until VW buys them back? Did he register them? Insure them? My buyback appointment is going to take one hour. How the hell did this guy physically return them all to VW? The logistics involved must have been complicated, to say nothing of the paperwork. Each dealership has slots for about 10 buybacks per business day. The shortest time it could take this guy to move 200 cars is a month, and that's only if he got every single slot.
