Assuming this is the real deal, it's a major improvement over earlier ideas. Hard to tell if that is the full size of the rear glass, but in general the vehicle seems to be following the broader industry trend for smaller windows.

There's far too much stuffed under that wrap to determine and details, and the details are what's going to matter.

We all know what a box looks like, but where is the break between the bumpers and the body? Just how squared off are those wheel arches? How much of the windows have been obscured? Things like that will determine how useful it is.

Some industry trends toward smaller windows come down to safety regulations. Just look at the new Wrangler with it's top off. It looks stupid because it has no choice.

I do know that Land Rover has stated that they believe this will blow the doors off the G Wagon off-pavement... We'll see.

Why is that LH drive? Is it the ROH version? Or just a test mule for the suspension, drive train stuff etc. Could be the D6 body.

The last test mule was a common body, as well. They really need to do a reveal, as the silhouette they presented doesn't look like this at all. If they don't show this thing by the end of the year, people who've been waiting to see it before buying a vehicle will lose interest.

I see air struts, relatively long control-arms, side-swing rear door, trapezoidal rather than rectangular cab, D3/4 style handles, large headlights, small D5-like grill, chunky Jeep-like mirrors, body set slightly higher on frame, front recovery hook centered directly between control arm mounts, steep rear-departure angle, larger than shown glass, and hashtags to indicate they're playing the teaser game.

I really hope there isn't a shelf right outside the windows. That ruins it for me. I can't imagine that is the real roofline. It looks like that guy has an entire foot of space above his head.

The only thing theyve gotten right is the back door

I dont know, the full width rear door of a disco is pretty awesome compared to the tiny rear door of a defender

Ive said for a long time they introduced the replacement for the defender in 89, and other than looking less rugged everything was an improvement

I think it is awful. Maybe it will grow on me, but i doubt it. Why can the Jeep Wrangler stick with solid axles, but LAND ROVER (the self-proclaimed industry standard) goes to independent with its "flagship" off-road model. Counter intuitive in my opinion. I totally understand the benefits of independent suspension, but I also TOTALLY understand its downfalls as well. Those of us that actually wheel our vehicles will have to always be complacent with building 20 year old vehicles for our needs...or buying Jeep...which I refuse to do.

Look up the rest of the shots. It's actually kind of interesting from certain angles. One makes it almost look like we're seeing a removable top covering a bed.

Regardless, it's obvious there's a ton of junk under that wrap to confuse people, so it can look very different than it appears when removed. That's how tricky that manner of dazzle camouflage can be, though.

It's really frustrating stuff.

That said, this looks a hell of a lot more like a removable soft top than it does conventional bodywork. Remove the trickery, though, and it could be anything. They've obviously got stuff stuck to the "C pillars". Even so, that sure does look like a damned bed cover.

I sure hope it is, or that there will be an option, anyway. If it's got to be modern, I'd like a "Land Rover H3T".

Cheers,

Unlikely. They simply want the publicity, without giving up the design entirely. Same game product companies have been playing for years.
